The problem with backstab wires is that they are not secured but just brought back to the main wire. This means that they can become loose and unattached leaving a hot wire and making it so that the outlet or fixture is not working properly. You want to make sure that you have these wires inspected and if you have backstab wires they are upgraded and replaced.
Add a New GFCI Outlet
One of the things that you will see in homes that are newer is that they have outlets that have what is called a GFCI. These are an outlet that is used in areas that are prone to moisture.
