Why Does My Outdoor GFCI Outlet Keep Tripping in Pembroke Park, FL; Overloaded Circuit & More

Most people do not think about why or how their electricity works, they simply use it each and every day without ever thinking about it. The only time that most people will really think about how their electricity is when it is not working properly. There are a few common electrical problems that homeowners may experience at some point in their life. One common problem is that your outlets keep tripping. When your outlets are tripping the actual outlet that is tripping is called a ground fault circuit interrupters. They are called GFCI outlets for short. When a GFCI trips it is intended to reduce the risk of fire or electrocution. Outlets tripping are a sign that you should look into the problem. There are some common reasons that might be the cause.

GFCI Outlet Keeps Tripping After Rain or Water Source

Many times GFCI outlets that are near water like in kitchens and bathrooms get moisture in the receptacle box. If you live in an area that is humid or has lots of rain your outdoor outlets may have this problem as well. You can inspect the receptacle box. You will want to make sure that you turn off your breaker before opening so that you do not hurt yourself. Once the box is dry you can try to reset the GFCI outlet. You will want to call Burley Electrical Services if resetting the outlet does not work. If you try and work on the problem yourself you run the risk of electric shock. To avoid this problem in the future you will want to make sure that you weatherproof your outlet.

Overloaded Circuit Trips GFCI Randomly

Another common reason that your GFCI outlets trip is because the circuit is overloaded. You can tell if the circuit is overloaded by completing the following steps. First unplug all of the appliances that are plugged into the outlet. Next reset the circuit on your fuse box. After you do this you will want to wait several minutes. Then you can plug one appliance into the outlet and turn it on. If your outlet is working add another appliance. As you do this you may find that you will need to replace the items that are causing the problem or that you will need to add another outlet to accommodate for all of the appliances that you want to plug in.
