Interior Lighting Design Guidelines in Hollywood, FL; Ceiling Lights, Wall Sconces & More

When you want to install lighting fixtures throughout your home for better light or aesthetics, there are a number of factors you should consider before you go to a lighting or hardware store. There is, of course, the design of the light fixture, which most people will focus on. Even so, Burley Electrical Services will share some other additional considerations you should keep in mind when you want to change the lighting in your home.

Modern Interior Lighting

Functionality – First, it is important to base lighting on proper functionality, such as does it provide the right amount of light for the activities or purpose of each room? Additionally, the right mood the light provides in each room is also important. Many homeowners love installing dimmer switches to adjust lighting for mood or the various needs. For example, living rooms require more diverse lighting needs, whereas places such as offices you will want to have good light for studying, reading, or working. Some people prefer to the turn off the main light in a room and just use a secondary light where they are working to remove distractions. Depending on the room, make sure to consider the atmosphere you wish to create with your lighting. Also, dimmer switches are a great way to change the lighting in a room. You can also wire tables or standing lamps along with wall or ceiling lights as well and have them worked together to light the room in more diverse ways or what some people refer to as “layer lighting.”
Wall Sconces – Wall sconces were used as accent light and not meant to independently light an entire room. However, sconces hold more potential than most people realize. They are great for accent lights especially, to help replicate window light for room without or with little light from windows. However, they are also ideal for small rooms that don’t require a lot of light such as bathrooms and laundry rooms. Another nice option is that sconces can be adjusted to different heights meeting the right level desired by the homeowner.
Ceiling Lights – There are different types of fixtures that hangs from the ceiling, such as ceiling fans and light combos, chandeliers, flush mount lights, and pendants lights. The nice thing about ceiling lighting is that they provide a lot of light with less fixtures. Ceiling lights can be used everywhere in a home. They can be used in bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, laundry rooms and bathrooms. They can also be connected to dimmer switches for better lighting control.
Wattage – Most importantly when choosing a new light fixture is wattage. Different lighting fixtures will house a range of bulbs with different wattage requirements. Wattage will help determine how much light the bulb gives off and how much energy it will use. Some of the highly recommended bulbs for light fixtures are LED lights. They have an excellent light output and can help save energy. They come in different light colors from white light to yellowish lighting to help mimic candle light.
