Electrical Code Inspections in Fort Lauderdale, FL; Definition & Checklist Including Inspecting the Electrical Panel, Outlets & Wiring

What Can You Expect When Getting An Electrical Code Inspection

The electrical wiring that is in your home is made to last. That is not to say that some things can’t go wrong or that there are items that will need to be repacked. The electrical is done when the house is constructed but additions can be made over time. This can be anything from adding new fixtures, outlets and lighting. When these are done there can be problems that arise. When you are in a home that you bought from someone else you may want to have an electrical code inspection done. This is an inspection that will find any troubles that can turn dangerous.

Burley Electrical Services outlines what you can expect when you have an electrical code inspection done

What is an Electrical Code Inspection: When you have a code inspection done, a licensed electrician will come out to the location of the home or business and check that all the electrical in the place is up to code. The code is set by the building department to ensure that all the electrical and other construction plans are done safely.
Check the Electrical Panel: The electrical panel is the place that all the electrical current for the entire home runs through. The panel will be labeled and set so that each breaker is set to protect a specific area of the house. The house has electrical current running through and if there is a surge it will hit the breaker which will stop the electrical current before it causes damage to the items that are being used in that area. The panel can have several problems that will need to be repaired to ensure safety. If there are any breakers that are damaged they need to be replaced. If the panel is the wrong size it may need to be completely replaced with a new one.
Check All the Electrical Wiring: Another area that is going to be checked is the wiring in the house. Most of the wiring is hidden behind a wall so it is difficult to see if there is a problem. The electrician has a plethora of tricks up their sleeve to ensure the wiring is covered and insulated properly. If there is any trouble found we can replace or correct it for you.
Check Electrical Outlets: One of the complaints that people have is the outlets in their home don’t work. This can be due to several different reasons but each outlet needs to be checked. The electrician can check each outlet to see if it is “hot”, meaning whether electrical current is making it to that point. Once they are all checked we can make a note of the outlets that are out of order and make the necessary repairs.
